Make Change Happen is an initiative to support LGBTIQ reforms in South Australia coordinated and resourced by the Human Rights Law Centre, supported by a grant from the Government of South Australia.
We believe that all South Australians should be treated equally under the law, regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status.
South Australia has a long history of supporting LGBTIQ rights. South Australia was the first state or territory in Australia to decriminalise homosexuality, and the first to introduce a spent convictions scheme for people who were convicted of crimes for consensual same-sex activity.
But there is more that must be done before all South Australians are treated equally.
"Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person
before the law."
- Yogyakarta Principles, Principle 3
We can give you tips and ideas on how you can raise awareness about these LGBTIQ reforms and share your stories with decision-makers to make fairer laws in SA.
